First Obedient Plant Blooms Of The Season

First blooms of Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana), playing an important role in the lives of bumblebees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and many other beneficial pollinators who are out hunting for sources of nectar this late in the season.

Obedient Plant is native to eastern and central North America, including Quebec to Florida, and west to Texas and Minnesota, eastern South Dakota, and including northern Mexico.

Now For Seekers Of Nectar

My Obedient Plants (Physostegia virginiana) are just beginning to bloom. An attractive plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae, that’s native to North America from Quebec to Manitoba south to Florida and New Mexico.

Ruby-throated Hummingbirds (Archilochus colubris) on their way to their winter homes are stopping by to enjoy the nectar.

And the seldom seen Monarch (Danaus plexippus) is attracted to its nectar as well.

Come and get it. There are many plants with pollen and nectar for you guys to relish.

In The Rain

Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana) is native to a good portion of North America from Quebec to Manitoba south to Florida and New Mexico. Blooming now in early autumn providing both nectar and pollen late in the growing season for bees, buttterflies, and hummingbirds migrating to their winter homes.

Here it’s enjoying all the soft drizzle that is slowly bringing moisture back to the thirsty plants.
