The Weather Forecast

The weather forecast for tomorrow night (Wednesday night) into Thursday is exciting for me. Prospects of beautiful ice.

I had a dentist appointment scheduled for Thursday, but given the risk of driving up here where it’s bound to be even more icy than down in the lowlands, I’ve rescheduled that appointment. And besides I’ll need all that time for roaming with my camera.

The only thing better than ice is pristine snow. The perfect decoration for the black and white landscape of winter.

Nature at its most beautiful. Me and my camera thoroughly enjoy capturing it in pixels.

Few Dogwood Leaves

As the days tick away, the leaves turn more beautiful with each of those ticks. The Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) leaves however, have been turning from emerald to garnet since the end of June and have begun to fall away. Leaving berries, also known as drupes.

And those drupes gladden many species of birds, along with bunches of mammals. Each of those drupes with high fat, low sugar content. Just what is called for as winter approaches.

Here a Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) delights in the buffet it sees on every branch.

Little By Little

More and more brilliant. Each day, little by little the leaves are becoming more and more, the perfect autumn coloring. These few, scarlet Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) leaves.

Soon Autumn

Autumn is sneaking up on us. Slowly creeping. It starts in late June when the leaves of Flowering Dogwood begin to let a bit of red seep into the green. Not enough that anyone notices. Anyone except the ones that are tuned into such things. I notice it every year. And now, some of those Dogwood trees have berries that are red. Announcing serious intentions. Autumn is on its way.

A New Season

Evening. Last day of summer 2020. I am SO looking forward to a new season. A change of direction. Some positive actions and thinking in all this insanity. Up instead of down. Bright instead of bleak. Health instead of sickness. Bring on AUTUMN.
