Punctuation In The Natural World

An Eastern Comma (Polygonia comma). One of the species of butterfly that overwinters as an adult. Imagine a warm winter day, you’re hiking along a mountain trail and there in front of you is an orange butterfly. This might be what you are seeing. This one has seen many miles.

Perfect name for a Geometry teacher’s favorite butterfly! The orange makes it perfect!

The orange Polygonia comma. YOUR butterfly! Once you’re back home I hope you’ll be watching for it. There are plenty of them out in the wild. Caution though, there is another, also orange the Polygonia interrogationis, or The Question Mark. And oh so very very similar!

I’m watching as you publish your photos on FB. Wow! What a trip!
