Red Maple Decked Out For Autumn

October 26, 2025

The Red Maples (Acer rubrum) are joining in with many of the trees in the woods to create a celebration of autumn. As is often the case, this week is the peak of the spectacular color display. Before long it will look like winter, with shades of black and white leaving only the lushness of evergreens to cheer the forest.

  1. It’s definitely at the peak here as well in the northeast Georgia mountains. We are getting LOTS of rain today. This is my favorite season. I know that you love winter and soon we will have that. Hope you’re doing good.

    • Hi Diane! Yes, every day the past couple days when I’ve gone out, I can’t believe that the brilliant colors are still coloring the woods. This morning going to yoga and returning — pure joy! Our rain is predicted to happen tomorrow afternoon, through Thursday morning. I’ve got my fingers that we will get a good amount. Things are so very dry. Burying things in the compost is like digging in concrete! Things are good here. Our 11 yr old granddaughter spent this past weekend with us. WHAT FUN! Hoping things are going well for you down there in Georgia!

So very glad you read my posts <3<3<3
