Word seems to have gotten out. No songbirds there for a meal. A Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus) sitting on the garden gate, a spot where there are often many birds. Try, try again little hawk.
And it is indeed a small hawk. The males of this species are the smallest hawks in both the United States and in Canada.

Oh yes! We had one in our yard for a long visit on Wednesday. So fun to see him close to the house.
Isn’t nature wonderful! Glad you had that visitor!
Many hugs!

This hawk strikes other birds as a food source. Since I feed birds in winter, the Sharp-shins are frequently seen overhead – and the birds are constantly watching.
