A Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) pecking at the peanut butter I’ve put out. It’s quite the popular item for the birds. Sometimes I add a generous amount of cayenne pepper to discourage Gray Squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis). They can taste it and its heat, while birds can’t.

Hi. I use Cayenne pepper around flower bulbs and tender young plants nibbled by squirrels and rabbits. It seems to work well in my yard.
HAPPY 2026 TO YOU!
Hi Sharon! Cayenne pepper is great for making many spicey dishes for humans too! It’s taken a while but I enjoy hot meals now, nearly as hot as my husband likes (from New Mexico)!
So very glad you read my posts.
Happy New Year!

Great photo
Aw! Thanks dear Bonny! I hope you are doing well down there in the warm part of the world. Things are great up here. Two snow falls in this month of December, making me really happy. Remember sledding on Kilmer Street?!! What a way to grow up!
So very glad you read my posts!
Sending hugs
