Blizzard Of ’66

January 28, 2026

Oh, the memories! The bizarre weather that we are having right now makes me think of The Blizzard of ’66, January 1966. It brought us a total of 29 inches of snow in Seabrook/Lanham, Maryland. That’s me sitting on our driveway surrounded by tons of snow from the storm.

The result? No school for a week. No mail. Grocery store shelves bare. It was quite the experience. Much like this storm.

  1. I remember that! We were living n Wheaton, MD, and I was teaching junior high music. We were all out in the apartment parking lot, digging out each other’s cars! I met my across the hall neighbor for the first time.

    • Oh, the sweet memories Grace! Hoping you are doing well, all dug out and staying warm and safe. I can’t believe how tough this snow has been. First time I’ve ever heard of “snowcrete”. Definitely an appropriate name.
So glad you read my posts!
