A Common Eastern Bumble Bee (Bombus impatiens). A bee that is considered friendly and gentle. Unless they have the feeling of being threatened, or if they feel their nest is being attacked, they are not aggressive. Yes, they’re able to sting, but it is generally only done in self-defense.
This Bumble Bee is enjoying the nectar and the pollen that this Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida) provides. They use the nectar for energy and the pollen is a source of protein and nourishment for themselves and for their growing larvae.

They are here and are only the ones we see most often 🙁
I saw 2 today at my feeders. Have not seen any honey bees in a long time. ;(
Hi Bev! Bees are wonderful! I find it very strange that I see a lot of honey bees around our cabin. Given that we don’t have bee keeper neighbors, I’m thinking the ones I see are in wild colonies. And speaking of wonderfulness – the hummingbirds certaily are keeping me entertained. They’re such clowns!
Hoping you had a lovely 4th of July!
So very glad that you read my posts <3
